The Independent Filmmakers Coalition (IFC) of Kansas City presents the 2008 IFC 357 Film Festival..

2008 IFC 357 Film Festival Entry Guidelines
Filmmakers are to create a short film of any genre and style that is 3-minutes or less, 5-minutes or less, or 7-minutes or less. Submission does not have to be original for the 357 Film Festival. Please try to keep entries PG-13 as this is an open call for films and the screening is open to an all-ages audience.

The Entry Form (see below) must be filled out completely, signed, and returned along with the required submission material(s) via mail or in person before the final entry deadline: Monday, December 1, 2008. NOTE: There is no IFC meeting the week previous due to Thanksgiving. Include a check or money order payable to the Independent Filmmakers Coalition (IFC).

Entries are to be no longer than 3, 5, or 7-minutes and be submitted on a NTSC format mini-DV tape or on a Data DVD in MPG-2 format. Each entry may feature any genre or style whether narrative, experimental, documentary, animation or other as outlined above in the story line. Films will be entered for award consideration and public presentation during the 2008 IFC 357 Film Festival on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Westport Coffee House.

An IFC Board appointed panel of judges will screen all entries and select the top films in category Best 3-minute, 5-minute and 7-minute for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in each time category. The judges may also designate awards in categories of their own choice.

Please include the required materials listed below. Submitted materials must be labeled with your full name, return address, film title, and total running time.

The IFC will take precautions to log and handle all submitted materials responsibly; the IFC, its committee, agents, judges and /or volunteers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to submitted materials. Do not submit originals or master copies of any film or video material that you can not replaced.

357 Film Festival Entry Fee and Submission:
The entry fee for all film submissions is twenty-five ($25.00) dollars per film for IFC members, or thirty ($30.00) dollars per film for non-IFC members. Complete an entry form and include the required materials for every film submitted. Entry fee(s) are non-refundable. Make Check or Money Order payable to the Independent Filmmakers Coalition.

Entries will not be accepted if:
Any section on the entry form is illegible or incomplete.
The entry form has not been signed.
The entry fee or required materials are not included; see Entry Guidelines.
The entry is postmarked or received after the December 1, 2008 deadline.

Exhibition prints of films accepted for screening during the event must be on an NTSC format mini-DV tape.

The undersigned is authorized to submit this film to the IFC for 2008 IFC 357 Film Festival for consideration. The rights of the film have not been exclusively assigned to any other party. The Entrant is the owner, or has a license from the owner, of the copyright in the sound recordings comprising the soundtrack to the film and the works reproduced in those sound recordings. All details contained in this entry from are true and correct.

If a submitted film is selected for screening the Producer licenses the IFC the non-exclusive complimentary right to: (a) Present the film at public screenings during the 2008 IFC 357 Film Festival or any other times designated in IFC publicity. (b) Show all of the film or selected excerpts of the film to the public by any and /or all means of presentation over a period of twenty-four (24) months on from December 3, 2008. (c) Entrant grants to the IFC the nonexclusive right to use the Film Entry Form information and /or any submitted materials and photograph for the 2008 IFC 357 Film Festival publicity and promotional activities. (d) Entrant grants to the IFC the nonexclusive right to duplicate and distribute the film by VHS, DVD, or the Internet whether individually or as part of a compilation of films from the event or as a best of IFC compilation.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless the Independent Filmmakers Coalition from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, public exhibition, screening and loss of or damage to the screening material provided.
