Kansas City filmmakers are going long. Many IFC members and others are releasing, shooting and developing feature – not just short – films.
Among those that have had festival, theatrical or exhibition screenings are Rossana Jeran’s godhead, Rich Ambler and Wood Dickinson’s Raising Jeffrey Dahmer, and Lisa Marie Evans’ The Same, But Different. These three movies received fiscal sponsorship under the IFC’s PanicButton program, as have these films that are in various states of production: Jeph Scanlon and Bobby Thompson’s Extreme Canines; John Woosley’s Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera; Carol Burns’ Mni Sose; Jonathan Dillon’s RIGGED; Stephanie Reed, Michael Cano and Jennifer Johnson’s Sudan Documentary Project; and Heidi Bacon's documentary Unwanted. (Also of note, the Sundance Institute's 21st Annual Producers Conference selected Heidi Bacon for its August conference, and The Kansas City Star named Lisa Marie Evans as Emerging Film Artist of the year.)

Other IFC member films in various states of pre-production, production or post-production the greater KC area include: Dave Keith’s American Wizards and Dale's Still Dead; Jeff Chitty and Toby Tolbert's Dead Waters and Road Kill; Mike Czerniewski’s The Jesus Letter and Chasing Eden; Karin Humbolt's Neewollah; Randall Moore's The 9th Life; Brian Culp's Self Help!; Dale Benson and Dan Meyer’s Seventy-two Square Feet; Paul Campbell's Stalker; Phil Cacioppo’s Why White Men Can’t Dance; Chip Gubera and Bob Swope's Wrestling Women vs. the Brainiac, which is part of the University of Missouri's Project IT film program; Tim Friend's Bonnie & Clyde vs. Dracula; and Ty Jones’ Last Breath.
Benjamin Meade has three films: American Stag, now on the festival circuit with its KC premiere planned for the Kansas International Film Festival in September; Bazaar Bizarre in DVD release; and American Music: Off the Record in production. Kevin Willmott’s CSA: Confederate States of America has now been released on DVD, and his Bunker Hill is in post-production. Dennis Fallon's All Roads Lead Home is in post-production.
