HOW ABOUT A ONE NIGHT STAND?

The Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City, is proud to announce the Eighth Annual “One Night Stand” Film Competition (count em... Eight-more than any other festival of this type ) where filmmakers have 10 hours to write, shoot and edit a three to five minute film.

Here is the deal: 9:00 am Saturday May 31, 2008 entrants will assemble at the Westport Coffee House, 4010 Pennsylvania, to draw a general theme and an item out of a hat, using these elements you have ten hours to complete your project.

New this year, the name of a classic film director will also be drawn, the title of any one of their films must be used with dialogue in the film. The film must be submitted on mini DV or DVD. Entry fee is $25.00 per team.

Prizes: Something money can’t buy; the respect and envy of your peers, as well as a one of a kind sculpture crafted by a local artist.

Anyone may form a team. Most teams are partially assembled in advance then innocent bystanders are drafted at the mornings drawing. Everyone is welcome to attend the morning drawing and participate in filming. Several years ago a lone individual with little experience won the contest.

FILMS ARE DUE @ THE JUST OFF BROADWAY THEATRE AT 7:00PM!!!!

The screening, as well as the contest, is open to everyone and will be held 8:30 pm the same night at Just-Off Broadway Theater, 3051 Central, KC Mo. Admission is $7.00.
The 200+ audience members at last years contest were treated to 17 films made with the impromptu help of 70 volunteers who were crazy enough to show up at the mornings drawing.
